This intriguing Iranian vampire film unfolds in the perpetual night of Bad City where "the Girl" searches—sometimes on a skateboard—for her next meal.
Feeding only on "bad men" in this fictional oil town, the Girl's (Sheila Vand) solitary routine is disrupted when she encounters Arash (Arash Marandi), a man who seems…not so bad? Shot in Los Angeles in striking black and white and hovering between dreamlike fantasy and gritty noir, this horror drama—copresented with Ohio State student group Cinéseries—appeals to both lovers of genre films and those searching for something unlike anything they've ever seen. Fans of Jennifer's Body, screening at the Wex the night before, will notice thematic elements in common as well as a late 2000s post-punk song on each film's soundtrack. Catch both screenings to figure out which one! (DCP, 101 mins.)
