This popular annual screening of animated shorts from the New York International Children’s Film Festival will jump-start your little one’s love of cinema with a program of cartoons from around the world. Each short is selected to charm all ages and especially to introduce our youngest viewers to their very first movie theater experience.
Taking place in the historic Mershon Auditorium this year to easily allow for more distanced seating options, this year’s lineup features a number of delightful music-based shorts starring silly forest creatures bopping, slithering, and shaking to the beat, as well as a parable about a little ice-cream craving walrus who has to learn to savor their treats. (54 mins., digital video) Recommended for ages 3 and up.
The program starts with a brief, all-ages YogArts stretching session led by our partners from The Yoga Carriage @ replenish. Families can follow along from their seats.
This free short film program in Mershon Auditorium is intended to allow for come-and-go viewing experiences that can be built around children’s attention spans and comfort levels.
Parents, if you have any questions about Zoom activities and films or their content, please contact Community, Youth, and Family Programs Manager Jean Pitman at jpitman@wexarts.org.
