Family Programming

Portrait of a smiling woman with glasses. Next to her is a drawing of a girl looking down; thought balloons above her head contain various symbols.

Join us for a conversation with best-selling children’s cartoonist Raina Telgemeier, presented in partnership with the Billy Ireland.

One of the most beloved all-ages cartoonists of her generation, Raina Telgemeier returns to CXC in conjunction with the career-spanning exhibition Facing Feelings: The Art of Raina Telgemeier, which is currently on display at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. Joining Telgemeier in conversation about her career and the exhibition is Anne Drozd, Billy Ireland Museum curator and curator of the exhibition.

Telgemeier’s many accolades include six Eisner Awards, and her book Drama received a Stonewall Book Award in 2013. Her graphic novels Smile (2010), Drama (2012), Sisters (2014), Ghosts (2016), and Guts (2019) all became New York Times bestsellers. She also created four popular graphic novel adaptations of Ann M. Martin’s Baby-Sitters Club series (2006–2008). (Program approx. 60 mins.)

After the conversation gather with fellow CXC fans at a free reception from 6 to 8 PM at the Billy Ireland, which is just south of the Wexner Center across the plaza.

Don’t miss Telgemeier’s book signing at the Columbus Metropolitan Library on Saturday, September 30, and Sunday, October 1. Learn more on the CXC website.
