A man in a tuxedo, a woman in a white gown, and another older, balding man in a tux stand together looking at one another

It's lurid! It’s subversive! It’s over the top! Don’t miss this chance to see Douglas Sirk's soap-operatic masterpiece on the big screen.

German-born Douglas Sirk is best known for his Technicolor melodramas portraying the underbelly of 1950s Eisenhower America that served as inspiration for later directors including Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Todd Haynes, and Pedro Almodóvar. Written on the Wind follows the downfall of a Texas oil baron precipitated by his degenerate children. It boasts an all-star cast featuring Robert Stack as the ne’er do well alcoholic son, Oscar-winner Dorothy Malone as the nymphomaniac daughter, Lauren Bacall as Stack’s long-suffering wife, and Rock Hudson as Stack’s best friend who secretly longs for Bacall. (99 mins., 4K DCP)

"I have seen 'Written on the Wind' a thousand times, and I cannot wait to see it again."
