Wil Haygood and Michael Schultz in Conversation

Book Signing Follows

Wil Haygood stands against a brick wall. His book, "Colorization: One Hundred Years of Black Films in a White World" is inset.

Hear from director Michael Schultz and author Wil Haygood in this conversation celebrating Haygood’s engrossing new book Colorization: One Hundred Years of Black Films in a White World.

The pair will discuss Schultz’s remarkable career (Cooley High, Car Wash, Krush Groove) within the context of Haygood’s perceptive history of Black representation in American film. Born in Columbus, Haygood is the author of such works as The Butler: A Witness to History (2013), In Black and White: The Life of Sammy Davis, Jr. (2003), and Tigerland 1968–1969: A City Divided, A Nation Torn Apart, and a Magical Season of Healing (2018), the focus of a Wexner Center Director’s Dialogue on Art and Social Change. (program approx. 60 mins.)

Schultz had hoped join us in person for this conversation at the Wex but due to unforeseen circumstances he’ll participate remotely via Zoom.

A book signing follows in the Wexner Center’s lower lobby.
