Revisit this DreamWorks classic about a martial arts–loving panda bear on the big screen—and in glorious 35mm.
The first installment in the popular franchise, the CG-animated Kung Fu Panda follows Po (voiced by Jack Black), an awkward, slacker panda who works in his father’s noodle shop in the Valley of Peace. Po dreams of fighting alongside the Furious Five kung fu warriors (a tiger, snake, mantis, crane, and monkey) and attends a contest to see who among them will be named the Dragon Warrior and tasked with defending the valley against the notorious snow-leopard Tai Lung (Ian McShane). When Po is accidentally named the Dragon Warrior, he must prove to the Furious Five—and himself—that he can become the valley’s savior. Black is joined by an all-star team of voices, including the talents of Dustin Hoffman, Seth Rogan, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, and Jackie Chan. Director Mark Osborne visited the Wex in 2016 with his animated adaptation of The Little Prince (2015). (92 mins., 35mm)
