Don’t miss your chance to go on a big-screen adventure with the iconic ogre and his donkey sidekick in this DreamWorks classic presented in 35mm.
The Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature, Shrek is perhaps the film franchise most associated with the DreamWorks Animation studio. Based on William Steig’s picture book, Shrek is the story of a grumpy ogre (voiced by Mike Myers) who loses his patience when the swamp he lives in becomes overrun with fairy tale characters exiled there by the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Along with his wise-cracking donkey companion (Eddie Murphy), Shrek travels to meet Lord Farquaad to try to reclaim his land. The price? Shrek must rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from a tower guarded by a dragon!
It’s the rare animated film that appeals to both kids and grown-ups, and Shrek hits the mark with its clever dialogue, pop-culture references, and abundant pop music. Shrek spawned three sequels as well as spin-off films Puss in Boots (2011) and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022). (90 mins., 35mm).
