Household Saints
(Nancy Savoca, 1993)
Director Nancy Savoca and Producer Richard Guay in person
Have any questions?
A moving homage to family and a valuable behind-the-scenes look at filmmaking during one of the richest periods in independent American cinema.
While she made the beloved indie film Household Saints, director Nancy Savoca was pregnant with daughter Martina Savoca-Guay. Years later, Savoca-Guay has created a compelling new look at the early 1990s classic. The documentary is filled with footage from the set, vintage interviews with actress Lili Taylor and coproducer Jonathan Demme, and contemporary interviews with her mother Nancy Savoca, her father Rich Guay (the film’s coproducer and cowriter), and author Francine Prose, who wrote the novel from which Household Saints is adapted. (58 mins., DCP)
