Unorthodocs 2023

A composite image of six stills from films being shown at the Unorthodocs 2023.
Celebrate the possibilities of creative nonfiction filmmaking.

Back for its seventh year, the Wexner Center’s annual documentary film festival features an exciting roster of international filmmakers, from emerging talents Cecilia Aldarondo and Milisuthando Bongela to award-winning directors Christopher Harris and Želimir Žilnik. These directors and more will be joining us at the festival.

This year’s Unorthodocs highlights deeply personal stories—examinations of what it means to live in the world today from the perspective of filmmakers across the globe. While streaming has made documentaries more widely available, it’s also made many more corporate and formulaic. Unorthodocs invites you to experience narratives that unfold as they are being discovered, making for a daring, alive, and singular experience.

Come explore the boundaries of documentary filmmaking and meet the artists behind today’s most exciting projects. Kick off your festival with Occupied City, the latest from visual artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen, on October 22. Enjoy all the talks and screenings with a festival pass, plus exclusive access to the passholder lounge.

Pass includes admission to:

  • All Unorthodocs talks and screenings including Unorthodocs preview weekend screening of Occupied City
  • Unorthodocs passholder lounge
  • One free drink ticket for the October 28 reception
