Unorthodocs 2022

A collage of eight stills from our Unorthodocs 2022 lineup
This year’s festival of creative nonfiction filmmaking celebrates true stories of community, and a vibrant community of visiting storytellers.

True-life tales are taking over television, podcasts, and almost every other form of media. Unorthodocs 2022 showcases gripping portraits of real communities while diving deep into today’s big questions—including the ethics of telling other people’s stories on screen.

Go on tour with the Middle East’s only all-female trash band. Cheer for a group of veteran filmmakers keeping film culture alive in Sudan. Check in with a group of documentary subjects as they contemplate what it means to share their lives in a film. And so much more.

This year’s Unorthodocs features area premieres, a special virtual reality experience, and visits from numerous filmmakers and producers. Purchase a pass to experience a weekend full of eclectic, adventurous documentaries and meet the people who made them—all for a reasonable price.

Organized by the Wexner Center for the Arts and curated by Chris Stults, Associate Curator of Film/Video.
